Josie called me from Tita’s (my mom’s) house crying that she missed me and Ben. I’ve been working like mad on this workshop and Ben has been out of town for work.

I don’t think she’s ever called me crying from my mom’s and I wasn’t out of town and was semi-available to go to her.

I didn’t say she had to come home, I didn’t say I’d stay there, I told her there are options but if she needs me I’m on my way.

She hesitated at first - first born - I’m sure she didn’t want to inconvenience me - but I gave her all the information and she did ask me to come.

I didn’t know how the evening would play out so I packed myself some pajamas and the dogs just in case I ended up staying the night.

Of course by the time I got there she was fine. But the point of me going was to let her know that I will drop everything for her always, she will always have an empathetic witness.

She repeatedly thanked me for coming down (hour drive) and snuggling her…only for them to ask me to bring them home at 10pm 🤣🤪

So as I was carrying them in the house at 11pm, even though I was exhausted, I knew that I expressed my love and support for them in any situation.
